Watching the world
Watching the world from behind a wineglass
I sat at the bar of this two-bit cafe.
I had counted all my failures
And I still wasn't asleep.
The cowboys were flirting with their fortune
Pulling her one-armed body over and over again.
I was bored.
Down and out in Paris.
Drinking cheap whiskey in a Salvation Army hotel
I saw some flaws in time I had never seen before.
The night was slowly passing.
I counted the hours until breakfast.
